Optruss

Triaxial Wireless MEMS Sensor with LoRaWAN & BLE

Rapid zero-cabling deployment for Balance of Plant assets: monitoring radial, axial, and tangential vibration with 5-year battery life and long-range LoRaWAN telemetry.

Wilcoxon 786A vibration sensor mounted on the bearing housing of a running pump

Stage 3: Velocity Elevation & Dynamic Imbalance

Captures low-to-mid frequency mechanical degradations such as shaft misalignment (2X), mass unbalance (1X), and structural looseness across all three spatial planes simultaneously, preventing secondary damage to seals and couplings.

Operating Principle & Signal Chain

Physical Transduction Mechanism

Features an ultra-low power capacitive micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) accelerometer etched on silicon. Microscopic suspended silicon proof masses deflect under acceleration, altering the capacitance between stationary fingers. An on-chip ASIC converts capacitance delta into calibrated 16-bit digital acceleration for X, Y, and Z axes simultaneously before passing through an internal wake-on-motion low-power supervisor.

Electronic Signal Chain Architecture

3-Axis Capacitive Silicon Proof Mass → On-die Charge-Balancing ASIC → Internal Programmable Digital Anti-Aliasing Filter → ARM Cortex-M4 Microcontroller with Hardware FPU (Onboard FFT Calculation) → SX1262 LoRaWAN Transceiver → Sovereign Edge Gateway.

100% Cordless Quick Retrofit for Dense Plant Areas

  • Thoroughly degrease metal surface using industrial isopropanol solvent

  • Align primary X-axis notch with the machine radial drive direction

  • Apply Henkel Loctite 330 structural acrylic adhesive or drill M8 tapped hole

  • Tap with Optruss Mobile App to sync device Merkle encryption key via NFC

Wiring & Shield Grounding Specifications

Requires no conduit, power cables, or I/O cards. Sensor housing is threaded onto an M8 stainless steel mounting base attached via two-part structural acrylic adhesive or drilled into the bearing pillow block. Commissioning is executed in under 2 minutes per point using NFC tap-to-provision with the Optruss mobile deployment app.

Field Commissioning Checklist

Detectable Degradation Profiles

1X fundamental frequency magnitude tracking

Dominant radial peak at precisely 1X rotational speed with 90° phase shift between horizontal and vertical axes

2X harmonic comparison with axial vector

Pronounced 2X peak in radial and axial planes with 180° phase difference across the flexible coupling

Subharmonic and interharmonic series detection

Multiple integer harmonics (1X, 2X, 3X, 4X) alongside half-order subharmonics (0.5X, 1.5X)

Blade-pass frequency (BPF) spectral ratio

Hardware-Accelerated Edge Acquisition & AI Classification

The wireless sensor uploads periodic dynamic bursts over sovereign LoRaWAN. The Optruss Edge Engine evaluates overall ISO 10816-3 RMS velocity velocity against asset class limits. If abnormal trending is detected, the gateway automatically commands the sensor via downlink to switch from standard 4-hour interval to high-frequency 5-minute continuous burst mode for high-resolution tracking.

Optruss Edge Sovereign Industrial Hub (Air-Gapped)

Deterministic high-speed acquisition and local AI inference: running air-gapped on DIN rails with FPGA DSP, dual isolated Ethernet, and sovereign Merkle audit ledger.

Stream Triaxial Wireless MEMS Sensor with LoRaWAN & BLE Directly to Optruss Edge

Benefit from sub-millisecond edge FFT processing, early P-F curve anomaly detection, and automated CMMS work order generation.
